ALBAWABA - A Walmart in Kentucky recently turned into a wrestling ring after restocking a new batch of Pokémon cards. Videos of the incident flooded social media, capturing several customers clashing together in hopes of copping their favorite booster packs.
What was once considered a hobby among fans of the franchise, Pokémon cards have become a victim of scalpers and borderline gambling, with individuals either buying large amounts of cards to sell them online for a massive price hike or showcasing them on their social media accounts for content, in hopes of getting rare cards that could rack up hundreds or thousands of dollars.
Some fans would even send their packs to content creators to generate hype.
Pokémon cards restock gets violent at a Kentucky Walmart
Just recently, controversial content creator-turned-wrestler Logan Paul sold his Pikachu Illustrator (PSA 10) card for a whopping $16.5 million in February 2026. According to online reports, only 39 copies exist of the card as they were awarded in a 1997-1998 contest.
According to Channel 6 Kentucky, witnesses said many customers lined up early in the morning at Walmart. Tensions rose when the new inventory started selling out, sparking an in-store brawl. A customer told the outlet, "It went from calm to crazy in seconds. As soon as people realized it was selling out, everyone rushed."
This comes as several customers were seen trying to secure multiple packs while not leaving cards for others who wish to enjoy the hobby.
Chile hit with a chilling story: Couple murders young Pokémon card vendor
According to Chilean reports, a 20-year-old Pokémon card vendor was murdered by a couple who are being investigated for robbery and homicide. Additionally, early reports revealed that the young woman's body remains missing, with the parents claiming that it's currently inside the apartment of one of the suspects.
Moreover, a Chilean news outlet outlined that the couple allegedly stole the 20-year-old's folder, which contained Pokémon cards valued at around 3 million Chilean Pesos ($3,360.00).
