Syrian actress Raghda said in an interview on Al-Hayat channel that she experienced her first unrequited love during secondary school when she fell in love with a Kurdish neighbor.

Talking to Al-Hayat channel host Amr al-Leithy, Raghda said she wrote poetry about her experience and some poems were featured on the Dubai Culture channel.

Raghda came to Egypt 32 years ago to study for a master's degree, but chose to begin an acting career instead.

She said she never sought out acting, but realized that the career path was her fate.

In Syria, Raghda was supposed to be engaged at the age of 11 to her cousin, but she ran away to her grandmother's house to escape the engagement.

At the age of 17 she was engaged to the son of the Turkish foreign minister, but the marriage never took place.

Raghda, a known supporter of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, said she has no political affiliation but respects the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party and the late President Hafez al-Assad.
