In the early hours of Saturday, May 26, a group of unidentified goons set fire to Ragheb Alameh’s car which was parked in front of his apartment in Juneh, next to the Beirut Marriott Hotel. The arsonists started the fire in the trunk of the car with the intention of blowing up the gasoline tank, according to thisiscyberia.com.

Fortunately, the janitor of the building where Alameh lives saw the assault and managed to extinguish the fire before it completely destroyed the car, a 2001 BMW 750.

In 1998, the popular singer survived an attempt on his life. Alameh was wounded after a psychotic fan fired three shots at him in Amman, Jordan.

Alameh’s brother identified the gunman, who was immediately arrested by Jordanian police. The would-be assassin was identified as an ‘obsessed fan’ who often stalked Ragheb when he was in the city.

Shortly afterwards, however, the singer stated that the assault was personal. Many fans suspected the attack was somehow connected to Ragheb’s former wife Randa Zakka, as the couple split up shortly before the incident.

The star’s former wife had accused him of threatening her with a knife before the divorce, a charge she could not prove.

Investigators are currently looking into the case of the arson attack on the singer's car, said the news service – Albawaba.com
