Riham Abed Al Ghafoor leaves before the showing

There was a private screening of the new film “Al Ghaba” (The Forest) at the Nile City, considered the first blockbuster of the summer season.


The stars of the film made an appearance, including Riham Abed Al Ghafoor, Ahmad Azmi, Basim Samrah, Hanan Mtawa and the director Ahmad Atef. The leading star Riham Abed Al Ghafoor left early, but made time for a photo-op before she left.


 According to the London daily Elaph, “Al Ghaba” depicts the tragedy of homeless children facing abuse on the streets.


 Riham plays the role of Jamila who is kind to children and mean to adults.


Hanan Mtawa plays the role of a drug addict named Barshama, a young homeless prostitute.  Barshama is beautiful and Jamila intentionally messes up her (Barshama’s) face, changing her life.   Barshama tragically decides to commit suicide.


 Ahmad Azmi plays the role of Hamosah, a young man living in the streets and selling drugs. Basim Samrah plays the role of Al Torbini, who is guilty of rape.
 The film is rated ‘R’ and was shown at the Cannes Film Festival in France on May 19.
