RIP: Legendary Actress Madiha Yussri Dies At Age 97

Egyptian actress Madiha Yussri died yesterday at the age of 97 after a long battle with illness that lasted for years.

Yussri had her last breath yesterday at Military Al Maadi hospital, which she was moved to recently after the Egyptian government took the decision to cover all the expenses of her treatment.

Yussri was spending all of her savings on moving between hospital due to a pain in her spine, in addition to problems in the kidney and the heart, that made her go to the ICU multiple times in the past couple of months.

The legendary actress's funeral will be held today, starting from "Sayida Nafissa" Mosque and her body will be burried in the family cemetry in the 6th of October Area. Madiha was the oldest Egyptian actress alive. In 2012 she stopped acting, following several projects on the small and the big screen. She began acting in early 1940s.  

Yussri got married five times, three of them was with famous spouses and two were to men that were not well known. She had one son with actor Mohamed Fawzi, that died in a car accedent more than 27 years ago.

Madiha's medical condition got worse in the past couple of years, yet she was honored earlier this year by the previous minster of culture Helmi Al Namnam, and the head of Arts Academy with a honoray docotoral degree while she was at the hospital for treatment. The last two people to visit her were actor Sameh Al Sariti and actor Dalal Abd Al Aziz.
