Robert Downey Jr has assembled a star-studded team that would make the Avengers look B-list.

The 52-year-old unveiled a star-packed voice cast for his upcoming film, The Voyage Of Doctor Dolittle on Tuesday.

'I am most pleased to announce the stellar voice cast joining me on #TheVoyageofDoctorDolittle,' the actor wrote, sharing a helpful graph of his 12 co-stars and tagging those with Instagram accounts too.

He also shared each of their character names, as well as the species of creature they will portray.

At the head of the list was RDJ himself, who will play the titular doctor who can talk to the animals.

Emma Thompson is voicing a parrot named Polynesia, Selena Gomez will play Betsy the Giraffe, Rami Malek will star as a gorilla named Chee Chee, while Kumail Nanjiani has been cast as as Plimpton, an ostrich.

The film unites Iron Man with his Marvel teammate Spider-Man as Tom Holland plays a dog named JP.

Octavia Spencer will play a duck named Dab Dab; Craig Robinson a mouse named Fleming; Marion Cotillard a fox named Tutu, and John Cena a polar bear named Yoshi.

Rounding out the magical list are three Harry Potter universe stalwarts: Fantastic Beasts' Carmen Ejogo will voice Regine, a lioness; while giantess Madame Olympe Maxime herself Frances de la Tour will voice a character named Ginko-Who-Soars — the only voice-cast member whose species is unknown.

Ralph Fiennes meanwhile, who plays He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named in the Potterverse, has been cast as Barry the tiger.

There are other humans cast as well, including Antonio Banderas, Jim Broadbent and Michael Sheen.

Somehow, James Corden has not been cast in a voice role.

There is tonnes of voice-acting experience within the film, which counts Downey Jr's wife Susan among its producers.

Cena voiced the titular bull in last year's Oscar-nominated Ferdinand; Thompson played both Queen Elinor in Disney's Brave, and Captain Amelia in the studios maligned Treasure Planet.

Gomez famously voices vampire Mavis in the Hotel Transylvania trilogy; Spencer voiced Mrs Otterman in Zootopia, while Craig Robinson has a list of voice credits including Sausage Party and Shrek Forever After,The Cleveland Show, American Dad and Big Mouth.

Robinson and Spencer even voiced the twins snakes of Hermes' caduceus in Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters in 2013.

Holland's first ever role was as the English dub of Studio Ghibli's animated film Arrietty; he also has an upcoming voice role opposite Will Smith in Spies IN Disguise.

Nanjiani, voiced Jay in the Lego Ninjago Movie, has several TV voice credits including Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Bob's Burgers and Adventure Time; both he and Malek has also voiced a number of characters in video games.

Cotillard dubs almost all of the French versions of her movies herself, and has provided voices for the French versions of Happy Feet, The Little Prince and Minions, replacing Sandra Bullock as Scarlet Overkill in the latter.

But perhaps Ralph Fiennes is the most experienced movie voice actor, playing the likes of Ramesses II in The Prince of Egypt (1998); Jesus Christ in The Miracle Maker (2000); Lord Victor Quartermaine in Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005); The Moon King in Kubo and the Two Strings (2016) and Alfred Pennyworth in The Lego Batman Movie (2017).

Only the two Harry Potter actresses are making their voiceover debuts.

Based on the 1920s series of children’s books by Hugh Lofting, the film will be a mix of live action and animation, similar to Disney's 2016 version of The Jungle Book.

Eddie Murphy played the Doctor in a 1998 comedy that quadrupled its $70million budget and spawned four sequels.

The Voyage Of Doctor Dolittle is set for release on April 12, 2019; Universal brought back its original release date of May 24, 2019, so as not to clash with Star Wars: Episode IX.
