Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred must have breathed a sigh of relief after learning that he could soon be released on bail, according to Moroccan daily "Assabah."
The star, who was arrested last week on charges of “aggravated sexual assault,” can't have it all though as he will reportedly have to wear an ankle monitor should he be released from the Fleury-Mérogis prison.
If French judicial authorities force Saad to wear an ankle monitor, he will not be able to leave France before the court has ruled either against him or in his favor.
Meanwhile, the identity of Saad's 20-year-old alleged victim has been confirmed by the Moroccan daily as nightclub escort Laura Prioul.
According to Assabah, "Lamjarred allegedly met the young French woman at a night club, where she was with a few friends, one of whom was Egyptian. The group then headed to the Egyptian friend’s hotel to grab a drink, says Assabah, before Laura willingly accompanied Saad to the Marriott."
Saad allegedly called his business manager the next morning and said, "I screwed up." The 31-year-old was arrested soon after.
The singer is currently being represented by French lawyer Eric Dupont Moretti, whose legal fees are being paid by Morocco's King Mohammed VI.
Moretti announced that the Paris Appeals Court should examine Lamjarred’s request to be released on bail by November 10.
