Before the airing of the episode “Al Fursah” (The Chance) Lebanese host Toni Khalifah was worried about the famous Lebanese singer Sabah for what was badly written about her by the music company Rotana and was published in its magazine.
The article made Sabah very upset, because it said that Sabah is broke and she was kicked out of the hotel she’s residing in for not paying the hotel’s expenses. Sabah’s friend Josef Gharib has asked the music channel to take back what they wrote, because it hurts the famous legend’s history.
According to the London daily Elpah, from Beirut to Amman Sabah carried with her, her sadness and pain. Sabah lived like a queen; therefore, it hurt her to be described as relying on others to pay for her expenses. Unlike her diplomatic manner that people are used to, Sabah attacked Rotana strongly and asked the music channel to stop putting the Athan “call for prayers” during the month of Ramadan since it was responsible for turning Lebanese girls into dancers at a dancing house “Capare”.
On the show “Al Fursah” Sabah talked about her past where she holds great sadness for it. She cried her eyes out when she remembered her mother, who up to today doesn’t know where she is buried. Her mother was killed and she came to Beirut from Cairo by the sea for her mother’s funeral, yet she only knew that she was killed at the Bromana area in Lebanon. She also talked about her sister who was shot to death when she was only ten years old.
Sabah also talked about her father and described him as a very mean man and for the first time she confesses that he is the reason behind her troubles and how she had to get married to lots of men. She had to prove for herself that men unlike what her father described as silly and naïve desired her. At the end Sabah made sure that she is happy with herself and for what she has achieved throughout her journey.
