International superstar Beyonce caused a right stir with her Muslim fans worldwide yesterday, after posting verses from the Quran on her Instagram page!
While some thought the Christian singer has converted to Islam, others were clued in to why she posted the holy words.
The truth is, Beyonce's official World Tour photographer Yosra El-Essawy sadly passed away after a failed battle with cancer. Yosra, an Egyptian Brit, was diagnosed with inoperable esophageal cancer a year and a half ago.
The verses happen to have Yosra's name in them, which is Arabic for "relief." The thoughtful singer chose those verses in particular as a way of honoring her late Muslim friend.
The 33-year-old talented photog documented some of Beyoncé’s most memorable images over the past couple of years, according to Essence.com.
Highlights of her career also included shooting riveting images from the Egyptian revolution, in addition to weddings, events, and Beyoncé’s 2015 calendar.
“You will forever be embedded in the hearts of all you have encountered. May you rest in perfect peace,” Beyonce’s website said.
