Renowned Egyptian actor Salah Al Saadani is gearing up to shoot his film Al Harb Al Misriyyah Al Amerikiyyah (The Egyptian-American War), which has been postponed for four years, according to the UAE’s Al Bayan newspaper.
The film is directed by Mohammed Khan, who is seeking a top American actress to perform the role of Saadani’s wife.
The film explores the life of an Egyptian scientist working in the US and married to an American lady.
When his children become teenagers, the scientist refuses to continue living in the US out of fear that his offspring will end up depraved. The scientist watches anxiously how one of his friends is forced by his company to allow his unmarried daughter to live, unsupervised, with a young man. The scientist, fearing that his children will become corrupt and dissolute, requests an immediate transfer back to Egypt.
Asked why the film had been postponed for four years, Saadani told the daily that the nearly 10 million pounds needed for financing was the main cause.
Much of the film will be shot in the US, he said. In addition, he added, there was the high cost of paying the American actress in dollars.
Saadani has recently wrapped up shooting the second part of the series Awraq Misriyyah (Egyptian Papers), directed by Rafiq Wagdy and costarring Faridah Saif Al Naser and Mahmoud Al Gundy - Albawaba.com
