ALBAWABA - Renowned Syrian star Salloum Haddad recently sparked backlash on social media after mocking Several Egyptian actors' performances, stating further their lack of skills in the formal Arabic language, excluding stars such as Nour El-Sherif and Abdullah Ghaith.
During the video flooding social media, Salloum Haddad made negative comments about the formal Arabic pronunciation of new Egyptian actors, specifically the letter "G." While he was met with cheers and laughter during the event, his comments weren't received as well on social media.
Egyptians have played a significant role in Arab cinema as they are regarded as pioneers. Many, including film directors and actors, found Haddad's comments disrespectful and degrading to Egyptian cinema.
Salloum Haddad sparks anger after mocking Egyptian actors
Among those who criticized Salloum's comments was director Hosni Saleh, who wrote on Facebook that Egypt produced names far greater than the Syrian actor, citing artists such as Mohamed Riad, Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Kamal Abu Raya, Mufid Ashour, and Ayman Azab.
Other renowned figures in Egyptian cinema also followed Hosni's comments, including actor Mohammed Aly Rizk and writer and screenwriter Amr Mahmoud Yassin, who viewed Salloum's comments as "unacceptable transgression" and should not be tolerated.
Salloum Haddad is set to star in an upcoming series titled "Nukhb Al Dam" (Toast of Blood), which will run for a total of 30 episodes and be split across three seasons.
