Earlier this month, Netflix killed Sense8, its strange but beloved science-fiction series. It was part of the service's efforts to cancel more shows—something which Netflix CEO Reed Hastings feels he should be doing more of. (A kind reminder to Hastings: other executives would kill for your repertoire and investment power.)
Fans were unhappy about this. They petitioned, they requested, they demanded, they gif'd their hearts out...and Netflix said no.
But in a surprise announcement that has the Global Cluster (watch the show) overjoyed, Sense8 is making a final (possibly final) hurrah: a two-hour special in 2018 to wrap-up the series and conclude the season 2 cliffhanger.
Co-creator Lana Wachowski (The Matrix) thanked fans for their love and support on Facebook, stating it was their pressure which restored blood into Sense8.
"Death doesn't let you say goodbye. 2 hour finale episode in the works. Tell your cluster," the post said. "Improbably, unforeseeably, your love has brought Sense8 back to life."
The show stars Doona Bae, Jamie Clayton, Freema Agyeman, Anupam Kher, Terrence Mann, Naveen Andrews and Daryl Hannah.
