Young Kuwaiti actress Shaima Ali has threatened to quit her acting career after feeling she was deprived of the recognition she deserved. The shock came when the credits of her latest drama, “Wa Tastamer Al Ayam” (The Days Go On), which is currently being aired on the Arab satellite channel Abu Dhabi, listed the names of actress Maram Abduallah and actor Abdullah Al Baruni before her own.
Shaima said she refuses to accept this perceived slight, with all due respect to her colleagues whose names appeared before hers. Her rationale is simply that she has been in the acting business for a much longer time than they have been and her contributions to the numerous dramas she took part in give credence to the fact that her name deserves to be listed first.
Shaima added that this is not the first time this type of slight has occurred. She stressed that proper recognition is much more important to her than any financial wages she may receive.
Shaima threatened that this is the last time she will accept such neglect from producers and if it occurs again, she will definitely resign for good.
