Shannen Doherty, best known as sassy Brenda Walsh of hit television series Beverly Hills, 90210, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.
Doherty was pulled over at about 3:00 am Thursday December 28, after police saw her Ford pickup weaving in and out of freeway lanes, police told the Times.
She was released on her own recognizance at 9:30 am.
The 29-year-old actress, who currently plays a witch on TV series Charmed, will be back in court on January 26 for arraignment, the paper said.
Doherty led the Pledge of Allegiance at the 1992 Republican National Convention, and was once considered a role model for young people.
But she has faced legal trouble before.
After a 1996 incident outside a West Hollywood bar, Doherty agreed to anger-management counseling and two years' probation, the Times said.
Doherty also battled with script writers on the set of Beverly Hills, 90210, which she left in 1994, one year before it was cancelled, the paper said. – AFP.
