Sherine Abdel Wahab has broken her silence regarding the recent court verdict sentencing her to a six month jail sentence and a fine of 500 Egyptian pounds in the case with Egyptian actor Sherif Muneer. Sherine has written a statement on Facebook clarifying the court verdict.
According to the Middle East news portal Elaph, Sherine wrote, "The court has released a verdict of a six month jail sentence and a fine, and an appeal has been submitted and a retrial will be decided on." Sherine stated that she is currently in Egypt and has not fled as has been speculated.
In the statement, Sherine stressed that there is no order forbidding her to travel outside of Egypt, adding, "With all do respect to the court order and the justice system in Egypt, I ask the media to publish news that is true and not create false rumors. I also beg of my fans around the Arab world to please refrain from making any insults to actor Sherif Muneer."
