Sources close to Egyptian singer Shireen Wajdi reported, when she deposited a check from her production company ‘Rotana,’ her bank refused to cash the check and transferred it directly to Egyptian authorities.

The check, which amounted to 230 Egyptian pounds, was immediately confiscated, along with all of the singer’s assets.

Shireen’s husband, Ehab Tal’at, is under investigation by Egyptian authorities.

When the situation became clear, Ehab and Shireen attempted to leave Egypt on their private chartered jet, but Egyptian police prevented them from departing. Both she and her husband have been forbidden to leave Egypt, and the couple’s assets have been seized.

Ehab owns one of the largest advertising agencies in Egypt and is the producer of the popular program “Al Bait Baitak” (Our Home is Your Home). The Egyptian television network has filed charges against him.

Despite this crisis, ‘Rotana’ officials stressed that they are determined to maintain Shireen as a client, and will be renewing her contract once it ends.
