When Zayn Malik released his debut solo album, Mind Of Mine, in March, all signs pointed to him enjoying a chart dominance not unlike his days with One Direction.
And while such singles as Pillowtalk, Like I Would and Wrong were enthusiastically embraced by fans, singer has fallen short of being named the UK's biggest selling debut artist of the year.
The 23-year-old heart-throb has been pipped to the post by none other than The Chase presenter Bradley Walsh, 56, whose album of classic standards, Chasing Dreams, has sold an impressive 111,650 copies since its debut.
By comparison, Zayn's effort mustered up a respectable - through significantly smaller - tally of 65,208 copies sold.
Bradley's record - which was released several months after Zayn's in October - features the actor belting out a selection of big-band classics, including hits by Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr, alongside a 54-piece orchestra.
