ALBAWABA - American pop singer Taylor Swift is being urged by her fans "Swifties" to voice her opinion about the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza and Palestine through a series of countless posts on social media and a trending hashtag.
The hashtag in question is "#SwiftiesForPalestine" which garnered more than a whopping 133k posts on X (formerly known as Twitter) by the time of writing this article. The hashtag became so trending that it started making headlines internationally and also made it to a magazine!
#SwiftiesForPalestine takes over the internet, fans demand Taylor Swift to speak on Gaza
Fans stated that Taylor Swift's silence is "deafening" in such difficult times for an oppressed group such as the Palestinians and urged the pop star to "speak now" about the matter following a series of hashtags and an official tag.
A Swiftie also managed to write an official letter to Taylor Swift and said that the reason she should speak up is because she's an internationally renowned star who's well known across the board. The letter also included the Palestinians' ongoing suffering because of the shortage of food, electricity, and constant bombardment.
#SwiftiesForPalestine made it to well-known news outlets including Euro News, Time Magazine, TMZ, and many more.
Many Spanish social media users also urged all Swifties in Spain to do something on the eras tour because Taylor Swift will be performing in Madrid, Spain in May. 30, 2024.
One said, "I'm begging for all those Spain Swifties there to do something on the eras tour like this #SwiftiesforPalestine".
Eyes on Rafah and Gaza
By the time of writing this article, the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023, has resulted in the killing of more than 36,000 Palestinians of whom are children (not counting the ones buried under the rubble), as reported by the ministry of health in Gaza.
Additionally, at least 81,000 Palestinians since Oct. 7 were injured due to the constant bombardment from Israel leaving many Gazans homeless, displaced, and malnourished.
