Syrian actor Ahmad Milly dies aged 80

ALBAWABA - Syrian star Ahmad Milly died at the age of 80, the Artists Syndicate in Syria announced on Sunday.

The Damascus Branch of the Artists' Syndicate posted on Facebook, "The Damascus Branch of the Artists' Syndicate announces with deep sorrow the passing of our esteemed colleague, the artist Ahmed Milly."

It added, "His funeral will be held today, Sunday, January 10, 2026, from the National Hospital in Damascus. Prayers will be offered for him after the Asr prayer at the Said Pasha Mosque in Rukn al-Din, and he will be laid to rest in the Al-Rashi family cemetery in Rukn al-Din. We will inform you later of the time and place for condolences. To God we belong and to Him we shall return."

The Syrian actor's death came after a sudden health crisis on Jan. 10 that led to his admission to the intensive care unit at the National Hospital in Damascus.

Ahmad Milly is a Syrian artist of Kurdish origin, born in Damascus in 1949.

He began his artistic career in the early seventies, joining the Syrian Artists Syndicate in 1972, and since then he has participated in many theatrical, television, cinematic and radio works.

He participated in the successful series, Zaman Al Barghout, which consists of two seasons, along with prominent Syrian stars.
