The Voice Kids Holland was exploding with talent in its blind auditions round last week, but it was 13-year old Syrian refugee Jean B Jeanilo who shined bright like a diamond.

The aspiring singer blew the judges away with his emotional (and spot on) rendition of Rihanna's "Diamonds."

Jean's husky vocals and commitment to the song brought tears to our eyes.

Needless to say, Ali B, Marco Borsato and Ilse de Lange turned their chairs after hearing him sing.

Jean, who doesn't speak Dutch, conversed with the judges in English, explaining that he's only been in the country for six months, adding that he lives in a refugee centre in Almere with his sister, mother and grandmother.

Dreams do come true

Jean is an example of the many talented young people Syria and the Middle East has to offer.

His positivity and determination to lead a normal, successful life after being forced out of his home country is inspiring.

Marco told Jean that "it's magic that three chairs turned around for your voice," to which the latter responded: "Yes, my dream has come true."
