Algerian film producer Kamel Dahane is currently preparing a film based on the novel Les Vigiles (the vigils) by the late Algerian writer and journalist Tahar Jaout who was assassinated, according to Algerie Presse Service (APS)
Dahane who lives in Belgium, wants to keep the same title Les Vigiles and strongly stick to the spirit of the novel, however, Dahane was thinking of the adaptation when Jaout was alive but the project was postponed because of his death.
The joint Algerian-Belgian production comes within the framework of the Commissariat of Algeria’s Year in France.
Dahane will start the shooting of his film next September in Algiers and Annaba and is expected to take 7 weeks. Costarring in the film Nadia Kaci and Sid Ali Kouiret.
Dahane has shot several films among which Femmes d’Alger which has achieved a great success and won several international prizes – Albawaba.com
