Fireworks and family fun for Eid Al Adha
The Eid Al Adha festival is one of the most significant dates in the Islamic calendar, and is a time for celebration and family. The ‘festival of the sacrifice,’ marks the end of the Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca. This weekend in Dubai sees a raft of fireworks, live entertainment and fun for all the family, from live shows to discounted dining.

Time for ladies to chill
Want to beat the heat? Probably the coolest way to spend a weekend, women should head straight to Dubai Ladies Club to enjoy some sub-zero relaxation and fun in a purpose-built snow dome and spa on the club’s private beach. Expect snow, entertainment, sport and health activities, including a floating barge equipped with a tanning corner and a juice bar, an igloo spa and outdoor water activities. For the kids, there's a frozen photo booth, snow-themed cartoon character performances and snowman building.

Bollywood hits with Sunidhi Chauhan
Kickback with playback singer Sunidhi Chauhan in a one-night event at the Dubai World Trade Centre's Sheikh Rashid Hall on 24 August. The award-winning singer, renowned for her high-pitched renditions, is as comfortable singing songs with elements of pop, hip hop, R&B and fast songs as she is singing semi-classical and slow numbers. This concert promises to explore her back catalogue spanning two decades.

Balqees Fathi in free concert
Catch Emirati singer Balqees Fathi, perhaps known for her hits 'Ya Hawa' and 'Majnoun', in a free Eid Al Adha concert at Dragon Mart 2. The revered 29-year-old singer has performed alongside Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, and you can be sure of a captivating concert at the Al Awir Road leisure destination. Balqees became a member of the UAE NSO Symphony Orchestra in 2013, and the multi-talented star sings opera in four languages - Arabic, English, French and Italian.

Constellations - a love story with string theory
The Junction theatre space at Alserkal Avenue is presenting this quirky love story about a beekeeper and a physicist, with a touch of string theory, described by critics as “witty, brilliant, eloquent and mysterious”. Grab one of the few remaining seats for this play to see protagonists Marianne and Roland (played by Maha Hussain and Ahmed Syed) take you on their journey from a chance meeting to a deep and meaningful relationship, via all the possibilities of what may have been.

Sima showcases contemporary dance
Fora brief taste of something different, join members of the Sima Dance Company in Al Quoz’s Alserkal Avenue for a contemporary dance event, which explores memory and its relation to dance, as part of the Dubai art hub's third summer season of events, based around the theme of 'Sensing Memory'. The free performance is choreographed bv Alaa Krimed, the dance company's artistic director.

Get the bigger picture with Dubai Frame
Get a new perspective on the city this weekend from the top of the 150 metre-tall Dubai Frame. The Zabeel Park museum and viewing platform is offering family fun for Eid Al Adha, including traditional and interactive activities for children, as well as special Eidiya giveaways. From the top of the 150 metre tall frame, you can admire the skylines of both new and old Dubai while enjoying the performance of traditional ‘Ayala’ dancers throughout the three days of Eid celebrations.
