Salwa Abol Naga, the elder sister of the Egyptian actor Khaled Abol Naga, passed away yesterday evening following a fire in her home, Al Jaras reported.
Cairo’s civil defense received news of a house being on fire in the Al-Zamalik neighborhood, which caused Salwa Abol Naga's death and injured one others. The police report stated that the fire originated from the stove, and later spread all over the house.
Unconfirmed reports said that Salwa refused to escape immediately, as she wanted to rescue her pets from her home.
Khaled has recently courted controversy by changing his Facebook profile picture to a rainbow, in support of LGBT rights and the US Supreme Court's ruling in favour of same-sex marriage. The UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador took to Twitter to "explain" himself and tweeted, "If only people give love the chance it deserves, Good will prevail. I only wish God blesses us all to comprehend the diverse rainbow of love."
Yesterday, the actor updated his Facebook page with his sister's photo and posted an old photo of his sister with the caption "Farewell, beloved sister, the most compassionate person"
