Egyptian actor Wael Noor learns the secrets of the magic and incense industry from his grandmother, who helps girls looking to get married, in the new TV series Bakhour Asfour(Asfour’s Incense), according to the Arabic daily Al Gomhuria.
The series is about a young man called Asfour (played by Noor) who has recently graduated from the school of agriculture but can't find a job.
He is in love with Suad, who is also seeking a job through advertisements in the newspapers. The girl finds an advertisement for a project to allocate new arable land to fresh graduates.
Being fond of spells and incense, Asfour’s grandmother (played by Karima Mukhtar) tries to convince him to use these to overcome bad luck, find a job and marry Suad.
Instead of that, Asfour sells the spells and incenses to a woman in the neighborhood who hopes her daughter Samihah can get married, particularly in view of her relatively old age.
Asfour exploits the ignorance of his neighbor and tries to convince her that he is preparing the spells in collaboration with his grandmother.
Later, still unemployed and prompted by the heavy demand from the neighbors, who think that the spell is behind Samiha’s marriage, Asfour becomes confused and decides to weave spells to make money. So he begins cheating people in collaboration with his grandmother, and becomes famous, which enables him to snare a lot of money.
Suad, however, becomes angry and opposes Asfour’s work.
The series was scripted by Nader Al Qadi and directed by Eman Al Sangargi. It costars Wael Noor, Karima Mukhtar, Gamal Ismael, Abdullah Farghalli and Yasin Al Gilani. The series was produced by the Radio and TV production department - Albawaba.com
