Syrian actress and director Waha al Raheb is currently working on her first feature film Rua’a Halima (Dreamy Visions) which is produced by the General Cinema Organization.

The film deals with the story of a woman belongs to a Middle class family and suffers from different social contradictions, according to Syria Times.

The family is dominated by the father with all his contradictions. The film shows that the characters, particularly the women, suffer from different problems including depression and refusal of social values.

Costarring in the film are Salim Sabri, Raja’a Quotrash, Rim Ali, Bassel al Khayyat, Abed Fahad and many others. It was shot at an old Damascus house in al Qanawat quarter.

About her concentration on Feminist issues, director al Raheb told the daily that women is a basic axis in the film in which we see different generations and various experiences. The feature is mainly dealing with feminist questions despite the reference to other topics.

She added that the film starts and ends on the day of the Israeli invasion of Lebanon. But she took into consideration the conflict between different generations and contradictory ideas. “The house is old, but has modernized furniture and it lies near modern housing blocks. It is hybrid house that mixes the intimacy of the past and complications of the present,” said al Raheb.

The director pointed out that the Palestine question was discussed through the Israeli invasion of South Lebanon in 1982. It reflects the strong relationship between Syria and the Palestinian issue – Albawaba.com
