The song Sawt al Hajar (Sound of Stone) by the Lebanese singer Walid Tawfiq ranked number 1 among the Arab patriotic songs in Egypt during the bloody conflict in occupied Palestine.
This smash hit came as a result of a public poll made by the Egyptian Radio Service, according to the London based Arabic daily al Sharq al Awsat.
The Lebanese star is due in Cairo next week to receive the Golden Statue Award from the Egyptian Ministry of Information at a ceremony to be held at the Opera House and attended by Egyptian artists and prominent figures.
Tawfiq dedicated the song in solidarity with the Palestinian people.
The renowned singer has recently wrapped up shooting a video clip for the song I Stay Awake from his latest album under the direction of Jamil al Maghazi. He is currently reviewing the possibility of playing a starring role in an Egyptian film about the life history of the renowned Egyptian singer Mohammed Fawzi -- Albawaba.com
