Today, Stephen Hawking passed away at age 76. The legendary physicist died peacefully at home in Cambridge.
At age 22, Hawking was told that he only had a few years to live. His motor neurone disease led him to a wheelchair. He was unable to speak, except through the use of a voice synthesiser.
Yet his writing on science, physics and the universe has been read and enjoyed by millions of individuals around the world, and there is every indication that Hawking's work with last long after he is gone.
