Comedian Sarah Silverman, known for her take-no-prisoners, foulmouthed comedy routines, will be coming to Israel for the 16th Jerusalem Jewish Film Festival, which will run from December 16-23 at the Jerusalem Cinematheque.

Two-time Emmy winner Silverman, who last visited Israel three years ago, will attend a screening of her HBO comedy special, Sarah Silverman: We Are Miracles. She will take questions from the audience and receive a prize from the festival for her work in comedy and movies.

Silverman will attend a press conference on December 18.

The Jerusalem Jewish Film Festival will present more than 50 films, among them features, documentaries, shorts and animated films on Jewish themes.

Silverman, a comedian who has courted controversy throughout her career, started out doing stand-up, spent one season as a writer for Saturday Night Live, had her own television show and has appeared in dozens of films and television series, most recently the series Masters of Sex and the movie A Million Ways to Die in the West.

She also has family in Jerusalem.

Her sister Susan Silverman is a Reform rabbi and a member of Women of the Wall.

Susan was arrested in 2013 for wearing a prayer shawl at the Kotel, and Sarah tweeted her support. Yosef Abramowitz, Susan’s husband, is the founder and CEO of Energiya Global Capital, and a former candidate for the presidency of Israel.
