ALBAWABA - Pro-Palestine YouTuber and streamer IShowSpeed recently went viral after a clip captured him attempting to dodge a question from an Israeli journalist while attending the 2026 World Cup in New Jersey.
The journalist asked the streamer, "Speed, you know we are a channel from Israel; everyone loves you a lot in Israel. Do you have anything to say to them?"
Speed first responded, "To who?... From where?" However, the popular streamer later said before leaving, "I appreciate all my fans there and thank you all."
"From where?": IShowSpeed dodges Israeli journalist at the World Cup
Many pro-Palestine fans and streamers took to social media to debate why Speed didn't call for "Free Palestine" during the brief interview. Others speculated that he might've been bound by FIFA's rules on politics, so saying the slogan might not have given him backstage access.
Controversial streamer Sneako speculated during a livestream while reacting to the viral clip, "Ok that's bad. Thank you for what? Say free PaIestine. Maybe he got the call. Maybe in order to get backstage access you can't say that. It's still W Speed."
Others pointed out the Israeli journalist's "body language," further accusing him of attempting to get a reaction out of Speed despite knowing the streamer's pro-Palestine stance.
One more social media user wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "Israel is not playing this world cup... That was a trap for him."
IShowSpeed has been a strong advocate for a "Free Palestine." He has voiced his solidarity for Gaza on multiple occasions during his content. In 2024, the streamer also donated $50,000 to Palestine Relief. The donation was made as part of the $100,000 he received during a MrBeast challenge.
