There’s been a very obvious gap on the judges’ bench since Kathem al-Saher left The Voice after season 3. MBC has been on the lookout since for some new blood to reinvigorate interest in the show. (Note to MBC: maybe stop remaking everything. Get crazy. Make something new for a change.)

Rumours have floated names like Palestinian singer Mohammed Assaf and Lebanese singer Melhem Zein as replacements—artists under the Platinum Records that the label is keen on promoting.

MBC has yet to comment on these rumours. But ask an Arab to comment on something, and they will comment:

Maya Diab, the Lebanese pop singer, told Sayidaty in as-yet unpublished interview that neither Assaf nor Zein would be serving on The Voice. She did not name her sources in the interview.

The more you know.
