She's one of the world's most famous athletes.
But on Friday Serena Williams took a break from the court to attend the Pennsylvania Conference for Women.
The 37-year-old tennis legend looked quite content as she mounted the stage to talk about several important issues.
While she's obviously known for her athletic prowess, the mother-of-one discussed her feelings about how moms are treated by the healthcare system and how she deals with the pressure of motherhood, according to Philadelphia Magazine.
The birth of her now one-year-old daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian was particularly difficult and involved several complications.
'In this country that's supposed to be so technology-advanced, why are we treating our mothers like this? I was really fortunate because I had an opportunity for my voice to be heard. I had a wonderful female doctor who listened to me. There are so many women who were not being listened to. It's really unacceptable,' insisted the champion.
She also talked about how her husband Alexis Ohanian helped her when she was dealing with confidence issues associated with motherhood.
'I always have these insecurities that I’m not good enough as a mom. We all go through these different emotions that people don’t really feel comfortable talking about. I think we should. We should talk about the things that make us uncomfortable,' she reiterated.
When Alexis put up motivational posters, the new mom was grateful.
'He wanted to assure me I was doing a good job, and he did it when I was going back to my career, back to tennis,' she gushed.
For her appearance, she opted for a message sweater which read 'Be Seen. Be Heard.'
A pair of black capris and sky high stilettos completed her mixed business chic look.
