Kick-start the year with DSF

The city has entered the new year with incredible sales and entertainment thanks to the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF). A staple in Dubai’s retail calendar, the 2020 edition of the festival celebrates its silver jubilee with unbeatable discounts and live performances by Amr Diab, Robbie Williams, John Legend and more. The early months of the year mark a period of much revelry in Dubai. Foodies and gourmands, indulge your cravings at the Dubai Food Festival, which highlights the city’s culinary landscape with signature set menus, guided food tours, cooking masterclasses, celebrity chef appearances and pop-ups. As the polo season continues, you can get in on all the action as the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series moves from the Standard Chartered Gold Cup in February to the Dubai Challenge Cup in March. Top teams from around the world will battle it out for the champion’s title, while over at Meydan Racecourse, horses will be sprinting towards a US$35 million prize purse during the Dubai World Cup. Take a rest from all this high-stakes, horse-powered action at World Art Dubai from 8-11 April. The region’s largest affordable retail art fair, its collection boasts more than 3,000 pieces from 150 galleries and artists from around the world. Experience Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr

Late April marks the start of Ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting and spirituality. See a new side of Dubai when you visit during this time, experiencing the best of Arabian hospitality at scrumptious Iftars and Suhoors citywide. Bright lights decorate the atmospheric streets as the city comes alive at night. Families come together to celebrate the month and take part in charitable endeavours.

Eid Al Fitr marks the end of Ramadan in May, making it one of the Islamic calendar’s most significant holidays. For three days, traditional entertainment, fireworks and family-friendly activities commemorate this festival, while retail shops offer fantastic deals across the city.
