The Carthage Film Festival has honored prominent Egyptian actress Yusra, renowned director Yousif Shaheen, and prominent Egyptian actor Omar El Sherif at the grand opening of its 20th consecutive year. A large number of stars from attended the event from around the Arab world and abroad.
According to the London based daily, Al Sharq Al Awsat, Yusra stressed that it was an honor to receive such an honorary award from such a prestigious festival. She added that she felt as if she was the Queen of the world when she was given the award.
Yusra has turned down an offer to star in the radio drama series “Wa Mar Al Seif” alongside Egyptian singer Hani Shaker. The drama is to be aired during the fasting month of Ramadan on Al Sharq Al Awsat radio station.
Yusra turned down her nomination due to her busy schedule with shooting different works for television that are also to be aired during Ramadan. It has been added that controversial director Enas Al Dughaidi has also turned down directing the drama to the low wage she was offered.
Enas stressed that she will not accept such an offer unless she is paid the same wage a director is paid for directing an episode for television. The station refused to meet Enas’s condition due to the fact that its budget does not permit such a high wage and it is known that directors are paid only 10 thousand Egyptian pounds to direct radio programs.
Yusra is currently filming the scenes of her upcoming television drama series “Lika' Ala Alhawa'” (Live Interview), which is facing several pitfalls. Yusra’s role in the drama requires that she have a son, a matter that led the director to nominate 50 different little boys in order for the actress to choose one that best fits the role.
Yusra turned all the children down feeling that not one holds the special characteristics she is looking for. The actress requested of the director not to rush the matter and to carefully try and find one little boy that is intelligent and has a sense of humor.
Yusra requested of director Ali Idris to postpone filming her part in her new movie “Kalam Fil Hob” (Love Talk) till she is through with “Lika' Ala Alhawa'” (Live Interview) which is scheduled to be aired during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan. –Albawaba.com
