An Egyptian regulatory committee has set next July 1 as the date for testing the voice of actress Yusra, as well as the extent of her suitability to be licensed as a radio and television singer.

Yusra told the daily Al Sharq Al Awsat that she was currently holding meetings with a number of composers and instructors from the Music Institute to help train her voice before she appears before the committee, which includes a number of prominent composers and poets.

“I dreamed of singing a long time ago, but the circumstances forced me into acting,” Yusra said.

“I now seek to restore my old dreams by testing my first album, on which a number of composers including Hamid Al Shaery, Issam Karika and Hasan Abussaud collaborated,” she added.

The artist pointed out that she did not object to taking part in radio and television concerts, or to singing love songs different from the ones she has performed in her movies.

The renowned actress denied that she planned to drop acting to work as a full-time singer, saying, “I still have big dreams as an actor, which I have not yet achieved. The moment I feel that I have achieved all my dreams, I’ll quit without hesitating.” - Albawaba.com
