Event to promote Bahrain-UK trade ties in the water sector

A trade mission from the UK will be in Bahrain from January 19th-20th to promote and boost trade ties in the water sector between the two countries. The visit is coordinated by UKTI, the arm of the UK Government supporting overseas trade, the British Water Trade Association, the British Embassy Bahrain and the Bahrain Economic Development Board.
Following a full programme of meetings, a mini-exhibition featuring all 11 companies comprising the mission will be held at the Crowne Plaza Convention Center on January 20th. The exhibition, organised by the Bahrain British Business Forum (BBBF), is open to all companies operating in the water and environment sectors, such as water installation companies, wholesalers and distributors of pipelines and safety products, contractors, sub-contractors and consultants.
In addition to the mini-exhibition, the event includes a networking dinner featuring a presentation delivered by guest speaker HE Fahmi Al Jowder, Minister of Electricity & Water Affairs entitled “Securing Sustainable, High-Quality Water Services in the 21st Century”.
“Delegates on this Trade Mission represent some of the best UK companies and subsidiaries in the water sector and are recognised world leaders in their respective fields,” commented HMA Jamie Bowden, The British Ambassador to Bahrain. “The British government is keen to develop a close and lasting relationship with Bahrain in this field and support initiatives for high quality water and wastewater services at sustainable prices.”
During their two-day visit, the delegates are scheduled to meet with various ministries, regulatory bodies, and companies such as the Ministry of Works, the Electricity & Water Authority, and Hidd Power Company.
Khalid Zayani, Chairman of the BBBF welcomed all Bahraini companies in the water sector to attend the event, adding, “This mission presents an excellent opportunity for UK and Bahraini companies to meet and develop technological and commercial partnerships and sustainable solutions for Bahrain’s water sector, a goal that is aligned with the objectives of Vision 2030”
The exhibition will begin at 6:30 in the evening followed by the dinner event at 7:30. Tickets cost BD15 per person.
All registered attendees will also be automatically eligible for a raffle draw to win free tickets for the 2011 Volvo Tournament of Champions which will be held at the Royal Golf Club from January 27 – 30, as well as a chance to win tickets to the Don Giovanni Opera, the first full opera to be held in Bahrain. The opera will take place from 28th - 29th January 2011 at the Crowne Plaza Convention Centre.
