Fabindia arrives at Sharjah City Centre

Sharjah City Centre has welcomed Fabindia, India's largest private platform for products made from traditional techniques, skills and hand-based processes. A first for the Emirate of Sharjah, the community-minded store has a total of 146 outlets worldwide – 142 stores across 58 cities in India, as well as four international stores, two of which are based within the UAE and located on the Jumeirah and Al Mankhool Road in Dubai.
Promoting inclusive capitalism through its unique Community Owned Companies (COC) model, Fabindia– which boasts an extensive range of garments for men, women and children, home linen, furniture, floor coverings, giftware, lighting, jewellery and personal care - complements Sharjah City Centre’s diverse and ethnic retail mix.
Speaking of the new opening, Sharjah City Centre Senior Mall Manager Anna Mansour confirms, “We are pleased to welcome Fabindia to the Sharjah City Centre family, and honoured they have chosen our mall for their first venture within the Emirate of Sharjah. An internationally-recognised brand, which is known for their authenticity, Fabindia makes a great addition to our ever-expanding retail mix”.

Fabindia links over 40,000 craft based rural producers to modern urban markets, thereby creating a base for skilled, sustainable rural employment, and preserving India's traditional handicrafts in the process. Fabindia promotes inclusive capitalism, through its unique COC (community owned companies) model. The COC model consists of companies, which act as value adding intermediaries, between rural producers and Fabindia. These are owned, as the name suggests, by the communities they operate from; a minimum 26% shareholding of these companies is that of craft persons. Fabindia's products are natural, craft based, contemporary, and affordable.

Sharjah City Centre
Sharjah City Centre is located in the heart of Sharjah, along the main Al Wahda Street. Developed and managed by Majid Al Futtaim Properties, the centre has completed its expansion, renovation and redevelopment programme in 2009.
The new extension takes the mall’s total retail area offering 37,553 square metres with a total of 119 shops offering the ultimate value oriented retail mix. The mall is now home to an additional 22 new stores including internationally renowned anchor stores New Look, H&M and Borders.
