GCAA shares its experience in strategic planning with Latin American Countries

The General Civil Aviation Authority announced that it has organized a training course about the strategic planning in human capacity building in the civil aviation industry in Guatemala, with the participation of 37 specialized people representing 12 member states in the Latin American Civil Aviation Commission.
The 4-day course held between 26 - 29 April aimed at covering all aspects related to strategic planning concepts, including duties and functions of managers in civil aviation, as well as introducing methods for planning and implementing business strategies through a review of over 12 model strategies, and recognizing tools and technical elements required to support the planning and decision making processes.
Mr. Luis Rodriguez, the Latin America Civil Aviation Commission (LACAC) opened the ceremony on the first day, Mr. Juan Joes Carlos Director General of Guatemala Civil Aviation, and Mr. Marco Ospina, LACAC Executive Secretary spoke at the opening ceremony as well.
Laila Ali Bin Hareb, Executive Director of Strategy & International Affairs, GCAA, was the main speaker at the lectures in the course, which comes within the framework of implementing the memorandum of understanding signed between GCAA and Latin American Civil Aviation Commission for sharing experiences.
"The participation of GCAA in this course in Latin America reflects the role of the UAE in civil aviation worldwide and the trust of global and regional civil aviation authorities and organizations in the UAE." Bin Hareb commented.
"The strong participation in the course by CEOs and directors of civil aviation authorities, airport operators and air traffic service providers in Latin America indicates their interest in benefiting from the UAE's experience in strategic planning and transferring such experience to their countries." She added, explaining that: "Such courses and seminars organized by GCAA in conjunction with regional and international organizations confirm GCAA's commitment to strengthening relations with its counterparts around the world, which would enhance and promote the position of the UAE in the global civil aviation industry."
"Through the bilateral cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding signed with several civil aviation authorities around the world, the GCAA is aiming at sharing experiences and training, which will help discovering new fields that can enhance the reputation of GCAA and expand its role in civil aviation worldwide." Bin Hareb concluded.
The course saw the participation of representatives of civil aviation authorities in 12 Latin American countries: Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Venezuela, Dominica, Suriname and Trinidad Y Tobago.
The course started with a presentation by Laila bin Hareb about strategic planning under globalization and a rapidly changing environment and introduced planning requirements, business strategy development mechanisms, tools and techniques required for planning and decision making, including methods of expectation, environment analysis, strategy implementation steps and target oriented management.

General Civil Aviation Authority
The General Civil Aviation Authority was created in 1996 by Federal Cabinet Decree (Law 4) to regulate Civil Aviation and provide designated aviation services with observance to the safety and security to strengthen the aviation industry within the UAE and its upper space.
