GETEX 2011, the Middle East and Asia's leading education, training and professional development event, has announced that it will be offering more than 2,000 study and training options in over 35 countries during its three-day run from 14th to 16th April 2011, at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre. Over 400 exhibitors at GETEX 2011 will be kept busy attending to more than 30,000 visitors from all over the UAE and the neighbouring Gulf states.

Organised under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Nahayan Bin Mubarak Al Nahayan, UAE Minister of Higher Education & Scientific Research, GETEX creates a vivacious environment where universities, colleges and training organizations from around the world compete to recruit Emirati and expatriate students for their undergraduate, postgraduate, corporate and vocational training programmes.

The highlight of GETEX 2011 will include 3 subject-specific Excellence forums in Engineering, Healthcare & Medicine and Business & Finance specifically for final year graduating students and working professionals. These forums will be hosted by academic and industry professionals and is aimed to bridge the existing gap between Education & Industry.

Another highlight of GETEX 2011 is the Global EdTech Forum, a conference and skill-building workshop series hosted in conjunction with the world’s leading agency in faculty development, the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), USA.  Delegates attending the Global Edtech Forum include Teachers, Administrators, ICT Managers and Education Leaders in the public and private sectors from across the Middle East.

Anselm Godinho, Managing Director, International Conferences & Exhibitions (IC&E), organisers of the event, said: "Education is a crucial factor in cultivating the socio-economic development of any society. This is the reason why governments across the Middle East region continue to allocate a significant portion of the national budget on education. The fundamental aim of GETEX 2011 is to complement the growing focus on education by providing a centralised platform that offers the best academic options, education technologies and networking opportunities for all key stakeholders of the education sector in the Middle East."

Apart from the student recruitment potential GETEX provides, visitors will have the opportunity to browse through technology that will shape the classroom of tomorrow. Technologies expected to be showcased at the event include interactive classroom simulation, engineering modelling technology, remote communication and library access and virtual classrooms.

For the corporate world, GETEX 2011 offers professional development courses and HR training opportunities. In particular, GETEX will focus more on short, result-based training programs that enable companies to upgrade the skills of a greater number of employees.
