Several months ago Alissa was the talk of the town, after the release of her music video “Agmal Ihsas” (The Best Feeling), in which she appeared alongside a French model acting as her husband, and started singing while performing seductive moves. Shortly after that Haifa Wahbi followed, and faced the same amount of criticism. The whole situation escalated when young Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram joined the race of seduction and rode the wave.
Amongst all this fuss of music videos being inappropriate for the Arab audience, Egyptian singer Ruby invaded the scenes and offered the most amount of seduction ever, to be presented to Arab fans. The new comer kept all Lebanese singers in a confused state unable to compete with her moves.
The war has moved to a different level now, business managers of all competitors are holding major meetings to try to strip the singers in order to make them sexier to the eyes of their fans. This is the new trend, which has taken over the music industry.
The competition is expected to witness many new faces in the Arab music industry, where looks is the major aspect of interest these days. Critics still wonder if any good voices like Fairouz and Um Kalthom would ever have the opportunity to appear on the scene, which is currently dominated by seduction stars.
Alissa is currently away from the scenes due to the fact that she is still mourning the death of her father. The singer was in the process of placing final touches on her new album, but had to postpone all her work until she is able to return to her everyday life.
Haifa is currently on a visit to the United States of America to be part of the casting for the new film "Ali Baba" by Lebanese born film producer Elie Samaha, who is the Chairman/CEO of Franchise Pictures, which has fast become one of the most prolific production and co-financing companies in the entertainment industry.
Ajram has recently completed shooting a new music video for her song “Ma Feesh Hajeh” (There is Nothing), which is featured in her upcoming album. Nancy’s new video was being filmed in the old town of Seeda in Lebanon amidst extensive security, which created worry among inhabitants of the town, who feared that something unusual is taking place. Director Nadine Labky, who has directed all of Nancy’s previous videos, naturally directs the video.
A Member of the Egyptian Musicians Association musician Hassan Abu Al Su’ood has publicly dropped a bombshell by announcing Ruby has attempted to enter the association under a phony alias, but was caught in time and her attempt failed. He added that they went through all the legal papers that include the names of all their members and Ruby’s name was not among them.
According to the daily Al Rai Al Aam, Hassan added that Ruby is illegally practicing the profession of singing, which demands that legal actions must be taken against her. He stressed that anyone who attempts to practice singing without being a member of the association must be prosecuted by serving a jail sentence or paying a large fine. –Albawaba.com
