The head of Egyptian censors Madkour Thabet revealed that he has received a judicial warning from a drug company demanding him to withdraw the license given to Viagra Falls selected by Enas al Deghaidi as a title for her latest film.
According to the company, adopting the name is considered as an exploitation of the prominence of a pharmaceutical product, which the company applied to produce in Egypt.
“I have sent a copy of the warning to the film director so that she would settle the dispute peacefully with the concerned company, otherwise I will be spurred to withdraw the permit if the case is raised at the court,” Thabet told the London based Arabic daily al Sharq al Awsat.
Tapped for playing starring roles in the film scripted by Mustafa Moharram is the young actress Minnah al Shalabi, who drew attention in her debut in the film Magician along with the star Mahmoud Abdel Aziz.
Viagra Falls tackles in a satire manner the Viagra tablets’ market in Egypt, the smuggling Mafia and the exploitation of senior officials of the import ban on the medicine in order to have monopoly over its market.
Shooting of the film is expected to begin at the end of this month so that it will be screened during the forthcoming Fitr Feast -- Albawaba.com
