Musician Ahmad Al Jabali has renewed his lawsuit against Egyptian singer Ruby, which was dismissed by a <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Cairo court. A court date has been set for the trial on March 6, 2005, where Al Jabali will demand that Ruby implement the terms of the contract she had signed with him in the past. The Egyptian Court of Immediate Matters will make a verdict in the case against Ruby, and will decide her fate of the singer.
Recently the court had dismissed the trial, which was filed by composer Ahmad. Al Jabali had demanded 5 million Egyptian pounds in compensation from the singer stressing that she had signed a contract with him in 1997 giving him full rights to all her entertainment activities, and making any other contract signed since that period invalid.
The contract has been automatically extended for five years, based on a condition in the contract that states an extension for five years will be made unless one of the two parties states otherwise. Neither Ruby nor Ahmad had requested otherwise and so the extension occurred giving Ahmad rights to Ruby’s activities until the year 2009.
On a different note, Ruby recently released her latest music video on Valentine’s Day entitled “Ib’a Abilni” (Meet Me), which is the singer’s special dedication to all lovers. Sharif Sabri, Ruby’s business manager revealed that the singer appears in a very different look other than what people are used to seeing.
The clip is a filmed message from the singer wishing all a happy Valentine’s Day. Strong sources in Egypt have revealed that a new duet will join the forces of Egyptian singer Ruby and Lebanese singer Maria, both considered as extremely seductive singer. Sharif Sabri, who was behind Ruby’s discovery, and director Jad Shwairi, who had introduced Maria to the music world, will direct the duet.
