Everyone knows the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is far from solved. Clashes continue and peace talks are in the gutter. However, this hasn’t stopped the Arabic-language Facebook page “Israel Uncensored”-part of the Israeli Arabic-language news site al-masdar-from publishing stories of coexistence. On June 19, they posted a video on Facebook of nine Israelis sampling different Ramadan dishes during the Islamic holy month, receiving tens of thousands of likes.

Behind a banner reading ‘blessed Ramadan’ in Arabic and to the tune of Arab music, the Israeli participants first described what they believe Ramadan to be. They all seemed to know about fasting and the end of fast dinner known as iftar.

Like Palestinian Muslims, the Israelis began the tasting with dates. “That’s the stickiest date I’ve ever eaten!” proclaimed one woman.

As the tasting progressed, the Israelis seemed to find the manzalah too spicy, and struggled with its pronunciation. On the other hand, all loved the mulukhiyah-a vegetable dish.

The video has received over 60,000 views. Some commenters scoffed at the video, but others rejoiced at the sight.
