In the wake of two travel bans in the United States that target Muslim-majority countries, it sometimes seems that people have forgotten about who founded the United States—immigrants. Additionally, for those who do maintain that America was home to many people migrating from Europe in its early days, they might overlook a population whose roots are at the heart of the Middle East that also hopped across the pond.
