ALBAWABA - Houthi group military spokesperson Yahya Saree announced Wednesday morning that the Yemeni Armed Forces targeted a Saudi oil tanker called "Wafaa" in the Red Sea with ballistic missiles.
He said in a statement, "The Yemeni Armed Forces conducted a military operation targeting the Saudi oil tanker 'Wafaa' north of the Red Sea off the Yambu area using several ballistic missiles."
He claimed that the Yemeni group "achieved a precise hit", adding that this comes in revenge for Saudi Arabia's siege.
The spokesperson said that the attack on the Saudi tanker comes in implementation of the Yemeni Armed Forces' decision to impose a maritime blockade on Saudi Arabia.
He said, "The Yemeni Armed Forces, by the grace of Allah, successfully targeted the Saudi oil tanker 'Wafaa' in the northern Red Sea, off the coast of Yanbu, with a number of ballistic missiles. The strike was precise, thanks be to Allah."
Saree further noted that the total number of Saudi oil tankers targeted since the start of the maritime blockade on July 22 has reached eight. Meanwhile, the total number of Saudi oil tankers that have been prevented from crossing the Red and Arabian Seas has reached 29.
