ALBAWABA - Iran announced the date on which it will hold public commemorative ceremonies for Ali Khamenei, the slain supreme leader of Iran, who was killed in February, 2026.
Ali Khamenei died along with several other members of his family in a preemptive attack carried out by Israel and the United States on February 28.
On the occasion of the 40th day of the funeral of the Iranian leader, Ali Khamenei, the office of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution issued a statement announcing the holding of ceremonies commemorating the martyred leader in Tehran, Qom, and Mashhad, IRNA news agency reported Sunday.
The office said in a statement, "Simultaneously with the 40th day of the historical funeral and burial of the holy body of the martyred Iranian leader, ceremonies to commemorate that great leader and his family will be held by Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, in Tehran, Qom, and Mashhad."

When are the 40th memorial ceremonies for Ali Khamenei?
The office of Mojtaba Khamenei explained that the ceremonies will be held from August 17 to August 19, as follows:
- Tehran: Tuesday, August 18, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at the Imam Khomeini (RA) prayer hall.
- Qom: Wednesday, August 19, after Maghrib and Isha prayers, at the shrine of Hazrat Fatima Masoumeh (PBUH).
- Mashhad: Thursday, August 20, coinciding with the night of the martyrdom of Imam Hassan Askari (AS), after Maghrib and Isha prayers, at the Razavi Holy Shrine.
