Former Detainee Talks of Torture, Murder in Iranian-Backed Houthi Jails in Yemen

A former detainee on Wednesday told of torture and murder in the jails and camps of the Iranian-backed Houthi militias and called for international human rights organizations to inspect the conditions of thousands of detainees across Yemen.

SMI branches “are the bloodiest in Syria,” said Bassam al-Ahmad, director of Syrians for Truth and Justice (STJ), an NGO documenting violations in Syria. “They have no clear mandate, and although it is not on paper, they do what they like" (AFP/File)
