LG inaugurates new mobile software research and development center in the Middle East

Under the Patronage of the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Mr. Marwan Jum’a, and in the presence of the Korean Ambassador to Jordan and a host of  LG executive directors and representatives of information technology corporations,  LG Electronics MEA, a global leader and technology innovator in consumer electronics MEA, mobile communications and home appliances, has inaugurated its Mobile Software Research and Development Center for the Middle East at King Hussein Business Park.
The Center is being established as an important strategic step in serving the Jordanian communications market and the Middle East region and in response to HM King Abdullah II’s vision in developing the communications and information technology sector and providing the local and Arab markets with the latest communication technologies.
Commenting on this occasion, the Minister commended this pioneering move stressing on the fact that this Center will serve the whole Middle East area. He also encouraged the private sector to establish such centers similar to LG's Mobile Software Research and Development Center which will transform the information technology and communications sector into a knowledge-based society. 
Setting up the Center in Jordan emanated from the sheer fact that the Country is endowed with the competitiveness in the communications and information technology sector through qualified and well- trained human resources with expertise in scientific research and efficiency in programming and specialized applications. In addition, Jordan has the highest percentage of graduates in the field of Technology who continually provide the neighbouring Arab countries with their expertise.
From his end, CEO of LG Electronics Middle East and Africa, Mr. Ki Wan Kim commented on this technological initiative and said, "Fulfilling the Royal wish in setting up a R&D Center which is bound to provide Jordan and neighboring region with studies, information and results that will contribute to the development of the communications sector, LG has established this Center to serve human resources, software and mobiles markets and Jordan economy. It's a great opportunity to emphasize that all the elements of success have been pooled in this initiative: human resources, expertise in IT, academic training, and the market susceptible to adapt with the scientific research requirements.” 
He outlined that “Well equipped with all of the capabilities mentioned before, the Center shall be commissioned with the following missions, among others: develop mobile software and applications in the Middle East and Africa; serve as the research voice of the Arab customers and apply Arab countries adaptation models in addition to train and qualify the Jordanian workforce in the communications and Information Technology sector.”

Mr. Kim added that the Center seeks to reach an advanced technological position that should qualify it to become a unique and leading R&D center in the Middle East and Africa in the near future.
