The film makers of the film “Wilad Al Aam” (Cousins) were shocked and angry at the release of the latest clip for the song “Ya Waylak min Allah” (God will punish you) by Lebanese singer Amal Hijazi. The film was recently screened on different Arab Satellite channels.
The story of the clip is very similar to that of the film, which is about a married woman who is kidnapped and taken to Israel. The wife discovers that her husband is an Israeli spy and so seeks revenge and blows his cover. The husband is murdered at the end of the clip that is directed by Fadi Haddad.
Amal denied copying the film’s storyline and stressed that this is not the first time the theme of Israeli spies is tackled in films. She added that the story is not an exclusive right for anyone and therefore, she did nothing wrong to cause anyone to become angry with her.
The song is featured in Amal’s most recent album that is produced by the production company ‘Rotana’ and holds the same name as the song in debate. It features 12 songs that Amal had carefully chosen. The songs of the album are a mix of different dialects and languages, which the singer had included to give it a unique touch.
