The Mayor of the city of Dearborn Michigan, Jack B O'Reilly, has invited Lebanese singer Assi Hilani to the Mayor’s office and presented him with the ‘Key to the city of Dearborn” in the presence Arab American VIPs.

According to the London based Elaph, the mayor also presented Assi with a copy of the key, which is presented to special guests, to give to his son Waleed, who was born in the city of Dearborn.

At an earlier time, Assi had visited the Lorry Middle School in the eastern side of Dearborn. The singer was greeted by the faculty and 250 students, who are mostly Arab Americans. The students all gathered in the school’s auditorium and listed to a short speech by Assi encouraging them to stay in school and continue their education in order to be successful in their lives.

The school celebrated Assi’s birthday and presented him with a symbolic gift, which was a horse statue since the singer loves horses.

Assi had come to Dearborn after holding a live performance in Los Angles California. The concert was attended by a large crowd of Arab Americans and is part of tour the singer is holding around the United States sponsored by ‘Luxury Live Production’.

The singer’s tour will feature performances in Atlantic City, Cleveland, Detroit and Ann Arbor, where the Assi was honored at Michigan University Ann Arbor campus.
