Egyptian musician Hilmi Bakr has openly stated that Syrian singer Asalah Nasri is behind his divorce. Hilmi said that his ex-wife is Asalah’s cousin and had taken Asalah’s side in the disputes between him and Asalah.
According to the internet website MBC.net, during an interview with the Gulf magazine “Zahrat Al Khaleej”, Hilmi stressed that the dispute between him and Asalah is not at all personal and the chances of them getting over their differences and making peace with one another is non-existent.
Hilmi considered Asalah’s insults to him and to Egyptian singer Shireen Abd Al Wahab not new to him for it is in her nature to badmouth other artists and had done so previously in his own house. Hilmi revealed that in the past, Asalah had insulted prominent Syrian singer Mayada Al Hinawi, UAE singer Ahlam and Lebanese singer Nawal Al Zoughbi.
